Understanding Media鈥檚 Deadly Double Standards on Gaza
Hundreds of journalists signed on to a saying they condemn 鈥淚srael鈥檚 killing of journalists in Gaza and urge integrity in Western media coverage of Israel鈥檚 atrocities against Palestinians.鈥 United States media coverage of Israel鈥檚 brutal war on Gaza appears , taking claims of the Israeli state at face value, while requiring 鈥渋ndependent鈥 verification of the atrocities that Palestinians are reporting.
It鈥檚 a familiar pattern, according to longtime peace and justice activist Medea Benjamin, who sees a strong link between uncritical media acceptance of the United States鈥 misdeeds in Iraq in the early 2000s and coverage of what鈥檚 happening today in Gaza. Benjamin, who is co-founder of and spoke with 猫咪社区! Racial Justice Editor Sonali Kolhatkar on 猫咪社区 Presents: Rising Up With Sonali about the connection.
